Introducing MERIDIAN!

Meridian, a new Irish Draught Stallion sculpture in 1/9 scale by Karen Y. Gerhardt

UPDATE: The 1/9 scale resin edition is sold out of reservations.

I’m so happy to announce the debut of my newest sculpture. Nearly three years after being sure that I was done with horse sculpture. (A good friend advised me to never make big decisions during stressful times, HA!) So it took me two years to complete Meridian but I think he was worth the wait.

MERIDIAN is a 1/9 scale Irish Draught stud. Why this breed? Because I love this breed. I love heavy sport horses. If I was ever to own a horse it would be one of those. And I know that I should always sculpt what I love. So, here he is.

He will be produced in an unfinished resin cast edition of about 50 pieces. Only in 1/9 (“traditional”) scale. He will also be produced in fine English bone china and earthenware china, all unique colors glazed by me. My resin producer is Red Shed Resins of Idaho, who will begin making them approximately September 2024. All resin casts will be shipped to me and then I’ll ship them out to buyers. The china whiteware will be made for me by Animal Artistry of the UK. I will send a resin master to them in September and hopefully I’ll see a few chinas before the end of the year.

Meridian will be on display at the big annual Breyer Model Horses BreyerFest model horse weekend, July 11-14, 2024, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Kentucky. I’ve taken a space in Breyer’s Artisans Gallery, which runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the BF host hotel, the Clarion Lexington North. You can see him up close and in person and hold him in your hands. Along with whatever other pieces I manage to finish for sale for the event.

Ordering a Meridian in unpainted resin

The 1/9 scale resin edition is sold out on reservations at this time. When resins actually start shipping to me this fall, a few may become available if someone who placed a reservation cancels their order when it comes time to pay. (This happens.) Follow my Facebook page for announcements of individual resins for sale when they come up.

I can’t thank you enough for your support of my work.
