More “Roundabout” Photos

“Roundabout” is almost ready to shift into drive!

I’m pleased to report that I’m about a week away from finishing up the clay stage of my new “Roundabout” British Heavyweight Show Cob sculpture. Here are some of the latest photos.

I apologize that they are so blurry/distorted perspective/dark, but here in the ski condo I have no access to my usual professional photo set. This is the best I can do until I get back to the studio. You can see there are still a lot of parts I haven’t finished or even really addressed yet (especially on the head and legs) but from now on it’s all surface details, yay!

(I hope this slideshow works for everyone. Something else new I’m trying on the blog…!)

I’m firming up plans for “Roundie” and I am going to release it in a very small edition of unpainted resin casts. Like around 25. I won’t be painting any of them myself. Just a guess still… but those might be ready by May. And of course lots of chinas, both bone china cast for me by Donna Chaney of Animal Artistry/Alchemy Ceramics, and customized earthenware versions cast by me. The first chinas won’t start arriving until late summer at the earliest, more likely fall. I haven’t figured out how to do the resin distribution yet but it will be via this blog ONLY. So be sure you are subscribed via email or following on FaceBook!

Many thanks for your support!

Taking 2 custom glaze commissions in February and March

Looking ahead to when I will be in the studio in the next few months, I decided to take two custom china glazing commissions: one in February and one in March. I’ve done a few pieces to my color choice recently, now it is your turn.

I’m determined to pay for the “Roundabout” sculpture china and resin mold making fees from my business, not out of (our now fixed-income, ha) household funds. Because I was in England for a year (and doing a whole lot of slacking-off since we got back) I have hardly banked any equine art-related income. So I need to do some glazing and build up the fund!

I will glaze your china or mine! Rather than email everyone on my Go To List individually, I’m just doing this general notice instead. But if you already had a request on the Go To List, I will give your project priority when choosing which I want to do in these two glazing slots.

The February start date is Feb 16; the March start date is Mar 12. In both cases the glazing work will be done in a week. I will expect payment in full at completion.

Chinas I have available here for glazing are:

Caprice warmblood bone china: matte or gloss
Streetwise stock horse bone china: gloss
Optime arab earthenware: gloss
Boreas percheron bone china: matte or gloss

Horsing Around/Eberl “Azham” arab: matte or gloss **If I receive my ordered bisques!**
Horsing Around/Eberl “Sharif” arab: matte or gloss
Breyer Porcelain “Giselle” warmblood mare: matte or gloss
Hagen-Renaker re-issue “Sheba” arab: gloss (choice of colors is more limited)

Just email me with your proposal of both mold and color, I’ll decide which two pieces I want to do this winter, and will send a price quote to my choices. My email address is: westerlydesign@gmail.com

Thank you, and Happy New Chinas Year!

Bone China “Esperanza” completed

The bone china “Esperanza” sculpted by Brigitte Eberl and cast by Horsing Around is all finished. I just snapped these photos really fast for tonight and they’re a little blurry because I didn’t use the tripod. I will be taking good photos on Monday. If you can’t wait to see them, she is for sale now at $750.00 US postage paid. If interested you can reply directly to this post if you got this as an email. Or send me a message via Facebook. My email address is also available on the front page of my website.

This will be the last piece I’ll be able to glaze for at least a month. The “Roundabout” cob sculpture is very close to completion and I will be concentrating on that. (In between snowboard runs!) I posted 2 photos of it to Facebook last week, here’s a link.

Thank you as always for your support of my work, and Happy New Year!
